Are You Putting Your Career at Risk?
No matter how long you have been a working pro, it is important to never jeopardize your career standing.
Unfortunately, some people say or do something wrong. When they do, their careers can in fact be placed in jeopardy.
So, have you done anything of late you can think of that may have put your career in harm’s way?
Don’t Risk All That You Have Worked for
As you step back and look at where your career may be headed, keep the following in mind:
- Actions at work – Above all else, your actions in the workplace impact how well your job goes. That said are you giving it your all each day you report for work? Employers like it when they see someone with drive and a positive attitude. If you have been a little lax in these areas as of late, it is hopefully not too late to change things around. Do all you can on a daily basis to show up with a positive approach to work. Another key is making sure you are viewed as a team player. Employers appreciate those workers who are willing to help others when needed. By standing out for all the right reasons, you can further your career today and for years to come.
- Appearance matters – Do you forget about how your appearance can impact your career? Depending on the line of work you are in, your appearance can play a huge role or a smaller one. That said it is still wise even if in a job where appearance is not key to show up looking ready to work. When you are a guy with facial hair, do your best to keep it looking fit and trim. One of the ways to go about this is by going online and checking out which shaving products get top ratings. So, seeing Harry’s blades reviews and reviews of other shaving products would be well worth your time. In doing this, you can see which product would best help you maintain a good looking appearance. Also keep in mind that your appearance involves your hair, the clothing you select and more. By being pro-active with your appearance, you stand less of a chance of putting your career in danger.
- Badmouthing an employer – As social media consumes so many, don’t let it consume you for the wrong reasons. That said do not be one of those individuals turning to social media to badmouth your employer. Too many people do this and think there will not be any repercussions. As it turns out, more employers are monitoring social networking sites now. Posting one negative thing about your employer could land you in hot water. If you need to vent about your job, do it offline where no one will alert your employer to it. Remember, you do not want it to be time for a new job because of something silly you said or did.
If you feel as if you may be putting your career at risk, don’t you think it is time you turned things around?
