I've got Butcher Boy and The Bobby McGee's in the lovely Lee Rosy's Tea Shop in Nottingham on Wednesday, and over in Leicester on Thursday Pram, The Freed Unit, and Albatross Conspiracy.

Yeay! for late night trains from London going through Leicester and on up to Nottingham so I can get home on the 1am.

That's cool - didn't know The Albatross Conspiracy was playing live and things; do say "hi" to her/them on my London-dwelling, midlands-abandoning behalf if you get the chance!

Anyway, gigs...

Well I'm wondering whether or not to shell out £12.50 to go to 93 Feet East tomorrow to see The Micragirls (YAY!!) supporting John Spencer's new band Heavy Trash (yawn..?).

And on Sunday afternoon I'm going to be crammed somewhere inside Brixton Windmill watching Jeffrey Lewis run through his Crass covers again and so forth..

That's it for the coming week, as far as I know at the time of writing.

I don't really know Tanya but I know her boyfriend Glyn reasonably well. Went to her first gig (she's playing solo with laptop and keys (glockenspeily type playing over classicalist IDMy techno stuff), which was pretty good.

Jeffrey Lewis was superb in Leicester the other week...the Crass covers stuff is better than they have any right to be really. 'Walls' is especially great.

Should I go to see Spookey at the 13th Note tonight? I know nothing of them. They're descibed as bass-heavy Japanese garage rock in t'Metro and looks most like the gig I'd like to go to tonight if I go to a gig. But that might completely screw up my already-shaky eating-food-before-it-goes-off plans for the week.

Other than that, no gigs but out every night except Wednesday, in a rare display of having-a-life.

Pram is on Thursday? I had totally forgotten all about that one!
Leicester just moves too fast for me to keep up...

Nothing, because the two best venues in Coventry, Taylor John's House and the Tin Angel are closing down. Well they are unless they can obtain an unfeasibly large amount of money before this coming friday! Worst news ever.

I wish i was. Found out today they need 200 people to donate £100 each, which doesnt sound that much money, but i think it's proving tricky. It' going to be run as a non-profit oraganisation to open up alternative revenue streams.

Lot's of people seem to be playing Last Ever gigs these days...is there something in the Air? Get yourself a sampler, much more reliable than drummers!

Really wanted to see White Mice supported by DJ Scotch Egg at the Arts Organisation in Nottingham on Thursday but Pram was favoured by my other half.

I want to go to White Mice but a message popped up on my myspace about them having to cancel their gig in Sheffield today because they're stuck in France without work permits; i hope they get sorted for tomorrow but i dunno how these things work.

Silver Rocket all dayer on Saturday FTW.

bums, was gonna go to that. If not though I'll be at either the Metro for Misty's Big Adventure or Hoxton's Macbeth for Duloks! sweet Thursdays!

Tuesday I think I'm gonna go to the Pete and Pirates single launch with Hot Silk Pockets and I might try and squeeze in PopShop and William at the Buffalo Bar too.

I was hoping to be playing in Glenn Branca's 100 guitar symphony at the Roundhouse on Friday but it seems he's found 100 guitarists more suitable than I :(

...talking of gigs, I don't suppose anyone has a spare ticket for Jeffrey Lewis, The Mules and Wave Pictures @ 93ft East next Tuesday? Was utterly gutted when I found out it was sold out. I was a bit of a slow coach when it came to buying tikets. Rubbish.

nyerrs. moving swiftly on...have you heard about this?

Quote:
At War With False Noise will be putting on the following acts at Where The Monkey Sleeps in Glasgow on Saturday 13th October:

Sindre Bjerga
Anders Gjerde
Sten Ove Toft
Noma
Cheer

It'll be free entry, more details to follow. WTMS is a sandwich shop in West Regent Street; it's pretty easy to find but check the website for more info: www.monkeysleeps.com

sadly, I doubt I'll be in town for this, but it looks like fun. it's BYOB too!

hoping to catch art of burning water in london this wednesday, but it's looking unlikely, what with trains and finding somewhere to sleep and that.

do I don the crampons or just amuse myself in base camp?

it's a dilemma. I'm not about to pay £25 for a gig ticket. but if I don't go, I'll probably go out with my london buds and end up spending at least that much on beer, bullets and hookers.

possibly the most delectable photograph of the man i have seen thus far. thankyou, Satan. thankyou.

i had to cancel seeing Rufus next week, but hopefully will be watching Grizzly Bear near a geyser at 1am instead! which *just* about makes up for not seeing that man's hair/eyebrows/leiderhosen grace a theatre. only just. i know i shouldn't like his version of Agnus Dei, but it makes me think of some saucy BBC Medieval dramatisation.

2 gigs from Scotland's leading drone technician Noma this week and they're both free. CCA Bar on Thursday and then a sandwich shop (!) on Saturday. The latter had better watch in case John starts using their gear...
