Blast First are gearing up to release a limited edition series of ten-
inch EPs from a diverse range of artists including Bruce Springsteen,
Sunn 0))), Spiritualized, Grinderman, Lydia Lunch and Vincent Gallo
to celebrate the 70th birthday of Suicide’s Alan Vega.
Each of the EPs features major artists covering a Suicide track, one
previously unreleased Suicide rarity, and a cover version by an
smaller act. The major artists include Bruce ‘the Boss’ Springsteen,
Primal Scream, Peaches, Grinderman, Spiritualized, The Horrors, Sunn
0))) and Pansonic, Julian Cope, Lydia Lunch, Vincent Gallo, Liars, and
The Klaxons, with smaller bands involved including No Bra, HTRK, X-
Vectors, and Effi Briest. The series begins on July 28 with Bruce
Springsteen’s cover of ‘Dream Baby Dream’, backed by the previously
unreleased Suicide track ‘Midnight Special – Live’ and Shilpa Ray
playing ‘Mr Ray'.
July also sees Blast First Petite release Suicide’s Live
1977-1978, a six CD box set compiling 13 complete live sets from
New York and Europe. |
