"I showed up at a venue and the house soundguy was so loaded on pain pills that he couldn't get it together for soundcheck and all the way through until half an hour after start time."
What's the weirdest crowd/crowd response you've ever had? The strangest mixture of main band/support band fans?
"I was scheduled to play at the University of Oklahoma in the student commons area at 2 o'clock in the afternoon on a stage under a big TV that was showing a soap opera. After I set up, the soundguy turned the TV off and a hundred people started booing and throwing food at me."
What kind of stowaways or refugees do you find on the bus (if any?)
"A drunk lady I will call the randy granny climbed into the tour bus after a gig. We each one thought she was with the other so we let it go, then she climbed in to be with the tour manager and squeezed his buttocks."
Have you ever gone AWOL yourself?
"I had a mental breakdown in Milwaukee and fled by myself in the tour van with all the money stranding the rest of the band in a Motel 6 and drove to Florida where I hid out for over a week."
What's the best thing about being away from home? What's the worst?
"I love the barrage of sensory input that travel allows."
