Lusine - Serial Hodgepodge (Ghostly International)
At Christmas, the day after a sloshingly woozy party, my car broke down. I sat there freezing, far too embarrassed to go back to the house I had just left. An hour later, Mr AA arrived and I sat in the back of his van listening to radio Walthamstow. If only he'd had the Lusine album instead! It's a sensitive soundtrack for shiny futurezones, where you wouldn't mind at all if your lunar module broke down, because the AA man would be a slowly blinking, purring, alienoid, and your courtesy car would be a silent metal aubergine. I didn't think that I liked to listen to this kind of gentle clickety electro stuff. A while ago I might have said it was for wusses who keep their rucksacks on when they're shagging their girlfriends. But actually I am enjoying having it on. My advice is firstly, don't neglect your car battery in winter (imagine the kind alienoid flaring its nostrils in gentle disapproval) and secondly, do try out the Lusine album. Two-backpacked beasts will like it, and so do I. |
